Welcome to Nature’s Printing Press. I am Margaret Erwin, a maker inspired by the quiet beauty of the natural world. My work begins with foraging—wandering through our neighborhood to gather fallen flowers and leaves, each one a unique gift from nature. These leaves, along with natural dyes that I carefully prepare, are at the heart of the unique silk scarves and garments I create. Each piece carries the imprint of the earth, a gentle reminder of the seasons and the stories that nature tells.

Printing on silk is more than a craft to me; it’s a form of collaboration with the natural world. Every scarf I make feels like an extension of my respect for nature’s delicate details—veins of a leaf, subtle tones of a petal, or the warmth of a dye brewed from plants. The process is slow, intentional, and endlessly rewarding. I love the way each piece is unique, as if nature and I have worked together to create something truly one of a kind. My husband, Duane Erwin, is a watercolor artist, and often joins me in this celebration of nature. The leaves and colors that I discover and share, he also uses for his paintings, and our shared creativity brings us closer to the world around us.
